Pickleball in Merrill, Wisconsin

Ott's Park puts Merrill pickleball beside the Wisconsin River, with six lighted courts for outdoor games. If you need indoor play, instruction or a scheduled session with other players, nearby Wausau offers practical options through its tennis and pickleball center, YMCA and local pickleball club.

Where to Play Pickleball in Merrill

  • Ott's Park, 501 N. Foster Street, Merrill. Six lighted pickleball courts sit in a neighborhood park with river access, picnic areas and a playground. Bring playing partners for a planned outing; court availability alone does not mean an organized open-play session is underway. Ott's Park location and amenities.
  • Wausau Tennis and Pickleball Center, 928 McDonald Street, Wausau. Outside Merrill, this is a year-round indoor option with scheduled open play, lessons and court reservations. Pay As You Play access lets you pay for individual sessions. Reservations use CourtReserve, and open-play fees vary with session length. Pickleball programs and access.
  • Woodson YMCA, Wausau Branch, 707 N. 3rd Street, Wausau. Outside Merrill, the YMCA offers daily indoor open-play times. Pickleball shares the Fieldhouse and Program Gym with other activities, so use the designated pickleball blocks on the Wausau gym schedule. Non-members can buy a day pass; adults need photo ID. • Marathon Park, 1201 Stewart Avenue, Wausau. This outdoor option outside Merrill has nine courts and lights. The practical reason to travel here is the regular Wausau Area Pickleball gatherings: mornings around 6:30-7 a.m. and again around 9 a.m., plus Monday-Thursday evenings around 5 p.m. These are typical club playing patterns. Getting Started

New players seeking instruction should start with the Wausau Tennis and Pickleball Center's Learn to Play drills and group lessons. Use its CourtReserve registration portal to choose an instructional session and reserve your place. This gives you a way to learn before joining games, rather than arriving at Ott's Park hoping someone is teaching.

For individual instruction, use the Coaches section. After learning the rules and scoring, scheduled open play gives you a way to practice with other players.

Open Play and Organized Pickleball

The Wausau Tennis and Pickleball Center offers ladies' open play and round robins, drills, date nights and holiday socials. Choose a session through CourtReserve; reserving a private court is a separate choice for players bringing their own group.

For a less structured outdoor outing, Marathon Park's recurring club gatherings provide a place to meet players. For indoor play, the Woodson YMCA's pickleball program runs alongside its changing gym schedule.

Visiting Merrill and Looking for a Game?

If you are traveling alone, book an open-play session at the Wausau Tennis and Pickleball Center before making the drive. Choose open play rather than a court rental so you join a session with other players. Another indoor route is a Woodson YMCA day pass timed to a pickleball block on the Wausau gym schedule.

For outdoor games with local players, aim for Marathon Park around 9 a.m. or a Monday-Thursday gathering around 5 p.m. If you already have partners and want to stay in Merrill, use Ott's Park.
